Special events 2014 to 2018 at Tenterden & District Museum 100th Anniversary of WWI
To commemorate the key areas of this conflict that impacted on the lives of the people who lived in our area, Tenterden & District Museum, in collaboration with local schools and colleges, local history societies and specialist historians, will be displaying information, photographs and artefacts from the Great War.
Come and see what has been happening behind the scenes at the Museum in 2018. You will be able to experience the newly refurbished ground floor and hear about our current projects.
Dip into 1,000 years of history with the help of our friendly stewards, and discover rich layers of history, architectural trends over the centuries, house or family history.
Exhibits show the history of Tenterden and the Cinque Ports, reflecting the rich history of the area. Artefacts range from a Tenterden’s recently discovered Eighteenth century Theatre wallpaper to a 1500 BC flint axe head.
The archives house extensive research into local house histories and genealogy and hundreds of unique photographs and post cards.
